Whether you call them suspenders or braces, they are basically the same thing. In Australia, we say braces like the Brits. In America, they call them suspenders.

And let's face it, whether you wear them for practical reasons or for fashion, it doesn't really matter what they are called as long as they serve their purpose.

Basically, the two words are interchangeable and you will notice that we use both braces and suspenders in our product descriptions. The aim is not to confuse, but to help people using search engines find what they're looking for.

British designer Albert Thurston was the first person to manufacture modern braces, selling them from his emporium in London in 1820. Albert Thurston hand-crafted braces are still amongst the best in the world. So, in my humble opinion the word braces has the edge (but then as an ex-pat I am biased!).
